about

Wherever the colonizer goes, he sends first his sapper, the language of "civilization." Everyone not the colonizer is the savage and every savage needs "civilizing." Fuck the whole thing then? Or can we still find the 'civil' underneath it all and use it to our own ends? Civil, as in, not military. Civil, as in, not austerity and job cuts and stolen land and racist bullshit. Civil, as in, love and friendship and solidarity and basic fucking consideration for one another. Can we civilize the colonial apparatus? Can we civilize the G fucking 20? Can we civilize capitalism? Or is that a fool's errand and oppressive speech? Is civilization the enemy? All I know is I'm exhausted and I'm barely even in the ring; what must you all feel? You whose heads hit the concrete; whose lives are torn apart; for whom "civilization" is nothing but the pretty flag flying from the lead rifle's bayonet.
