about

Much talk of the great northward migrations. "Illegals," streaming over the border, come to steal "our" jobs. But what of those who move the other way? Americans in Mexico, Canadians in Guatemala, gringos of every size and shape arriving at the north coast of Honduras to steal traditional indigenous territory and turn it into a swimming pool and tiki bar. What of those wayward northerners, who think the world outside of Toronto, Tennessee or Texas is there for their taking. A vast playground, populated by friendly 'natives' who - for a price we don't mind saying! - will entertain their every lazy, pathetic, self-indulgent delight? For each of those gringos, we hope, there is a Juanacatlán Calavera to carry them away and force them to look at themselves a little harder before they wake up next week in a suit and tie at a middle-management job at Goldcorp.
